1. About Stoiya

Stoiya is a Stoic philosophy and reflection app. It presents historical Stoic quotations and ideas with philosopher or source attribution, modern interpretations, and daily reflections.

The app may include categories, favorites, reminders, sharing, and premium content.

2. Acceptance

By downloading or using Stoiya, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

3. Personal use

Stoiya is licensed to you for personal, non-commercial use. You may share individual readings through the app's sharing features, but you may not redistribute, resell, or republish the app's content in bulk, or use it to build a competing product.

4. Philosophy and wellness disclaimer

Stoiya is provided for general educational, philosophical, and personal-reflection purposes only. It is not:

• Therapy
• Legal advice
• Financial advice
• Professional advice of any other kind

Stoiya does not promise or guarantee any particular emotional, psychological, or life outcome. Reading Stoic philosophy is not a substitute for care from a qualified professional. If you are struggling with your mental or physical health, please consult a qualified professional. If you may be in crisis, contact your local emergency services.

5. Historical sources and interpretations

Stoiya aims to present historical sources accurately. Even so, translations, interpretations, citations, and historical context can contain errors, and can differ between editions and translators. Attribution of ancient material is sometimes uncertain.

Modern interpretations in Stoiya are the app's own explanatory content. They are separate from the historical quotations they accompany and should not be read as part of the original source.

If you notice a quotation, attribution, or citation that looks wrong, please tell us so it can be reviewed.

6. Local app data

Stoiya stores app state such as favorites, reading state, selected categories, daily selection history, and preferences on your device. There is no Stoiya account or cloud sync, so this data is not backed up by us and can be lost if you delete the app or lose your device.

7. Reminders

Reminders are local iOS notifications scheduled on your device and require notification permission. Delivery depends on iOS, including settings such as Focus modes and Notification Summary, so exact delivery timing cannot be guaranteed.

8. Sharing

Stoiya can share wisdom content through the iOS share sheet. You are responsible for what you share and where you share it. Saving a generated image to your photo library may require Photos permission.

9. Premium subscriptions and purchases

Stoiya may offer auto-renewing subscriptions that unlock premium content.

• Pricing and the billing period are shown before you purchase.
• Trial availability, when offered, is shown on the purchase screen if you are eligible.
• Payment is charged to your Apple Account and handled by Apple.
• Subscriptions renew automatically unless canceled in line with Apple's subscription rules.
• You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time in your Apple Account settings.
• Refunds are handled by Apple according to Apple's policies.
• Restore Purchases is available if you reinstall Stoiya or use a new device.
• Premium access depends on a valid entitlement being verified.

The App Store purchase screen is the source of truth for current price, billing period, and trial terms.

10. Third-party services

Stoiya relies on Apple for app distribution and payment processing, and on Adapty for product configuration, purchase and restore handling, and entitlement verification. Your use of those services is also governed by their own terms.

11. Availability and app changes

Stoiya may be updated, changed, or discontinued over time. Features and content may be added, modified, or removed, and availability can depend on your device and iOS version.

12. Prohibited conduct

You agree not to reverse engineer, tamper with, or attempt to bypass the app's purchase or entitlement checks; not to scrape or bulk extract its content; and not to use Stoiya in any way that breaks applicable law or Apple's App Store terms.

13. Disclaimer of warranties

Stoiya is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, uninterrupted availability, or the accuracy or completeness of any content.

14. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, for lost local app data, or for decisions you make based on content in the app. Nothing in these Terms limits rights that cannot be limited under applicable law.

15. Privacy

How Stoiya handles data is described in the Privacy Policy.

16. Changes to terms

These Terms may be updated as Stoiya changes. When they are, the date at the top of this page is updated. Continuing to use Stoiya after an update means you accept the revised Terms.
