Privacy Policy

How Habitale handles habit data, account sync, Milo requests, purchases, and privacy requests.

Habitale is a habit tracking app for iOS. It helps you create habits, log daily progress, set daily, weekly, and monthly goals, follow your streaks and insights, read completed-period reports, and update your habits through Milo, an AI assistant.

This Privacy Policy explains what is stored on your device, what is sent to the services that run the app, how that information is used, and the choices you have.

1. Introduction

Habitale is local-first. When you install the app, your habits and logged entries are created and stored on your device, and you can use the app without creating an account.

Some features go beyond the device. If you sign in with Apple, your habit data can be backed up and synchronized. If you send a message to Milo, that message is processed by an AI service. If you make a purchase or submit feedback, that is handled by the relevant provider. This policy describes each of those cases so you can understand exactly when data leaves your device.

2. Information Stored on the Device

Habitale stores your habit data locally so the app works without an account. This may include:

  • Habits you create, including name, emoji, color, unit, and archive state
  • Logged habit entries, with the amount and the date and time they cover
  • Daily, weekly, and monthly goals, and the history of goals you change over time
  • Habit and goal streak history
  • Reminder configuration, including selected days and times
  • Progress and insight preferences, such as the period or habit you last viewed
  • Report data calculated from your logged entries
  • App settings such as appearance, first day of the week, and notification preferences
  • Onboarding completion state
  • Cached premium entitlement state

If you never sign in and never use Milo, this information stays on your device.

3. Account and Synchronization

Signing in is optional. Habitale supports Sign in with Apple so you can back up your habit data and restore it on another device.

If you sign in, the following may be stored in your Habitale account:

  • The Apple user identifier returned by Sign in with Apple
  • The name and email address you choose to share at sign-in, if any
  • Your habits, logged entries, goals, and related habit data, so it can be restored on your devices
  • Timestamps used to reconcile the device copy with the synced copy

Apple’s Hide My Email option lets you sign in without sharing your real email address. Habitale receives whatever Apple passes along and nothing more.

Synced habit data is used to keep your devices consistent and to restore your data. It is not used for advertising and is not sold.

4. Milo and AI Requests

Milo is Habitale’s AI assistant. When you send Milo a message, the request is processed by an AI service provider so it can be matched against your habits. A request may include:

  • The message you send to Milo
  • The active habits it needs to match against, such as habit names and units
  • The suggested habit updates returned in response

Milo requests are made only when you send a message. If you never use Milo, no habit data is sent for AI processing.

Please avoid including sensitive personal details in messages you send to Milo. Only what is needed to interpret the update should be in the message.

5. Feedback and Bug Reports

If you send feedback or a bug report, the report may include:

  • The message you write
  • App version and build number
  • Device model and iOS version
  • Submission time

This is used to reproduce the problem and improve the app. Please include habit details only when they are necessary to understand the issue.

6. Purchases and Premium

Habitale offers a premium subscription. Purchases are made through the Apple App Store, and the purchase experience — paywall presentation, purchase and restore handling, and premium entitlement verification — is supported by Adapty.

This may involve device, product, and purchase identifiers. Habitale does not receive or store your payment card details. Apple handles billing.

7. Notifications

Habit reminders are delivered as local notifications scheduled on your device. Reminder days and times are stored with your habit data.

Notifications require permission, which you can grant or revoke at any time in iOS Settings.

8. Data Export and Import

You can export your habit data to an Excel file, and import habit data from a compatible file.

An exported file is created on your device and shared through iOS. Once you send or save it, the file is outside Habitale’s control and is handled by whichever app or service you chose.

9. How Information Is Used

Information is used to:

  • Store your habits, entries, goals, and streaks so the app works
  • Show progress, insights, and completed-period reports
  • Schedule the reminders you turn on
  • Interpret messages you send to Milo and suggest matching habit logs
  • Sync and restore your habit data when you sign in
  • Provide premium features and verify entitlement
  • Export and import your habit data when you ask for it
  • Investigate feedback and bug reports and improve the app

10. Third-Party Services

Habitale relies on the following services to operate certain features. Each provider processes information according to its own privacy practices.

Apple

Used for Sign in with Apple, App Store purchases, subscription management and refunds, notification permission and local notifications, and the iOS share sheet used when exporting data.

Adapty

Used for paywall presentation, purchase and restore handling, and premium entitlement verification.

Habitale sync service

Used to store and synchronize the habit data of signed-in users, and to route Milo requests.

AI service provider

Used to interpret the messages you send to Milo and to return suggested habit updates.

Umami

The Habitale website may use Umami for aggregated website usage analytics when configured. This applies to the website only, not the app.

11. Data Sharing and Tracking

  • Personal information is not sold.
  • Habitale does not contain third-party advertising.
  • Data is not used for targeted advertising.
  • Habitale does not intentionally track you across other companies’ apps or websites.
  • Limited data is processed by the service providers needed to operate the features described above.
  • Information may be disclosed when legally required or necessary to protect the app.

12. Data Retention and Deletion

Local habit data remains on your device until you delete it in the app or remove the app.

If you signed in, deleting the app does not by itself delete the data stored in your account. Use the account deletion option in the app to remove your account and its synced habit data, or email support and we will handle the request.

Submitted feedback may be retained as needed to investigate issues and improve the product. You may email support to request deletion of feedback you submitted.

Purchase records held by Apple and Adapty are retained according to their own policies.

13. User Choices and Permissions

You can:

  • Use Habitale without signing in, keeping your habit data on the device
  • Turn reminders on or off, and manage notification permission in iOS Settings
  • Choose whether to send a message to Milo
  • Choose whether to submit feedback or a bug report
  • Export your habit data to an Excel file at any time
  • Delete individual habits and entries inside the app
  • Sign out, or delete your account and its synced data
  • Delete the app to remove the habit data stored locally on your device

14. Children’s Privacy

Habitale is not intended for children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

If you believe a child has provided personal information through the app, please contact us and we will take appropriate action.

15. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information processed by the app, including encrypted transport for data sent to the services described above. However, no method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure.

16. Policy Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make changes, we will update the effective date above.

Continued use of Habitale after changes means you accept the updated policy.
